About Us

Have you ever been out doing something and thought, “there has to be a better way for this work.”

That happens to us all the time. Our problem is that we like to build new things to solve those problems. Sometimes we end up making really cool things. So, we started The Optera Gear Company (“Optera Gear”) to help share these crazy ideas that turn into product realities.

Optera Gear looks to bring out its innovative products to folks. We are also working on curating some of our favorite and sometimes obscure gear to our digital shelves. 

A couple of things to know about Optera Gear as you follow us:

• We are gear snobs. We like incredibly high-quality, well-thought-out gear.
• We like to make things. We appreciate the craftsmanship and the artesian nature of building high-quality equipment.
• It can always be better. We constantly love to tinker and find a better way to do things – except for the Winston IM6 8 foot, 4 weight, that is perfection.

Optera Gear is a new company – formed in 2022. We are based in Durango, Colorado, and hang out in the mountains and waters of the western United States. Our products take inspiration from our outdoor adventures in this part of the world.
